Welcome to the basics of Industry in EVE Online. In this guide, we will cover the following topics:

What Do You Want From Industry:

First you need to ask yourself what do you want to do in Industry? As an Alpha character you can produce most of the Tech 1 high, mid, and low slot modules along with ammo for any of the small to large ships (ie. Frigates to Battleships and Ore mining ships - up to the Porpoise). Also as an Alpha character you can build any of the faction ships (ie. the four Empires and ORE) from Frigates to Battleship-size. You can buy Blueprint Originals and research them to make and sell Blueprint Copies. The essential starting point for Tech 1 industry is to decide if you want to build modules, ammo, ships, or all the above. You will also need to decide where you want to build or do your research. Do you want to sell things to your corporation or corp-mates, or to one of the major trade hubs:

Finally, is there a demand for what you want to build? Evaluating if it will make you a profit in ISK or if it can be used to make other items will be answered later on in this guide or in more advanced guides later.

Changes that CCP has made to the ore distribution in the game have changed what minerals are readily available in each sector of New Eden (ie high sec, low sec, null sec, wormholes, and the different faction spaces). Therefore, where you’re building influences what you can mine for your build or what minerals you will need to buy/bring in, and you will need to consider the security of your system and surrounding systems in your decision making. Also, as an Alpha Character you can get into researching and copying Blueprint Originals to build from or to sell. This guide aims to help you figure out what you need to set up your first basic industry character.
