The Shadow War is the effort spurred on by all of the “Big 4” Empires to build a new technology known as the “Interstellar Shipcaster”. These incredible devices use the power of Stellar Transmuters to transport ships throughout the Faction Warzones.
In order to develop and build their Shipcaster the Empires must each first gain mastery of both the Stellar Transmuter and the novel Transportation Triglavian technology. To aid your chosen empire pilots must go to the territory of one of the factions that owns the technology your empire owns.
Index Files, Data Fragments, Decryption Keys, and the Datacore Blueprint Copy can be recovered from Research Data Nodes, Waylaid Couriers, and Besieged Research Labs. The three materials are combined with Pyerite, Nocxium, and a Recursive Computing Module.
Only after both technologies are mastered may that empire begin the process of building the Shipcaster itself. This will require blueprints and materials recovered from Pochven.
Individual Pilots must select which of the “Big 4” they wish to earn credit for. Completing goals valuable to your chosen empire will reward you with points leading to SKINs and boosters.
All research pieces are recovered from the territory of the Empires that have already mastered that research. This includes all systems owned by that faction in the Faction Warzones as well as the following Constellations:
Kisana
Ryra
Aokinen
Minnen
Tiat
Ani
Kiartanne
Viriette
All three sites spawn in all available space and all three contain all of the new components required to build the Datacores needed by the empires.
While you can find the sites in the Agency, the process of finding sites is slightly different. When looking for sites in low security space, use the Encounters > Faction Warfare > Faction Warfare Systems section and the sites will be visible. When looking in high security space you can find the sites in the Exploration > Anomalies section. Note: You can only see the type of Anomalies if you are adjacent to the system.
While there are more sites total in low security space, due to the concentrated nature of the high sec constellations the sites will be more frequent and respawn faster there. However remember: All sites cause a Suspect Flag upon entering, allowing anyone to attack you freely for 15 minutes. This has dramatic effect on your teams ability to assist each other in the event of hostile pilots. In particular “Any other pilot interfering in the combat between two pilots with active limited engagements, such as using remote support modules on one of the parties, will receive a Criminal flag for this interference in High Security space, and a Suspect flag in Low Security space.”
All three sites become visible on the overview as soon as the first person warps to the location.
Sets of 10 of the Technology Datacores can be turned in the following systems
Mehatoor
Onnamon
Amo
Intaki
Hacking Site
T1/Navy Frigates
Site contains ~8 hackable cans ranging from Very Easy (green) to Hard (red). Hostiles will be in site when starting and at least one reinforcement wave arrives later. Recommendation is to kill all of the Cheetah ASAP and leave one Crow alive while you hack all of the cans.
By far the easiest site for solo pilots.

Salvaging/Combat Site
T1/T2/Faction Frigates
T1/Faction Destroyers
3-4 waves of hostiles with each wave arriving several seconds after the entire previous wave is cleared. Once enough hostiles have been destroyed the rest warp off and the defended wrecks become salvageable. Use a salvager on each of the five boxes. Each cycle offers a chance to open the box. Once completed, open the box and retrieve the loot.
